Superb 4x4 problems

Featured Replies

Hi

I had a feeling my 4 wheel drive wasn't working and this was confirmed when I got bogged down on waterlogged grass. The guy who towed me out pointed out my rear wheels weren't turning.

A week or so later my car developed an electrical fault causing one of the fuses to blow repeatedly and an auto electrician diagnosed the Haldex Control Unit. He couldn't change it as he was mobile and had no ramps. He isolated the Haldex Control Unit so it was driveable and I took it to a garage who confirmed the fault. Both the garage and I were shocked when we were told the repair kit would be £800+, over £1000 fitted. I didn't get details but that possibly includes the Haldex clutch as well.

I found that I could possibly send the control unit off for repair for £160 but that would make the car undriveable and we only have 1 car. Any suggestions? Can I get a reconditioned control unit or am I better off biting the bullet and paying the £1000+ for the kit?
