Alarm siren purchase

Featured Replies

Hi All.

Does anyone have a current link to an after market siren for 2011 scout TDI 2.0l. I have had a look on Ebay and all I can see are used ones. Obviously dont want to pay the dealer price.

The Chinese ones ive seen are over £50 and i think new genuine ones are over £100, Ebay is only option for cheaper one as long as its ok, should get approx 6 years out of a new one..

Yes I know this , was hoping someone had a current link to a new aftermarket unit at sensible money.

I replaced my alarm siren last year as it kept going off. Not bad considering the car is 10 years old. I bought mine off Aliexpress. Took around 10 days to arrive but pretty sure it was about 30 quid for a genuine item. I'll try and find the thread I read which I think has a link to the item I bought.

Thanks Meaty.

I have found an old link to Aliexpress, unfortunately the product is no longer available. Hopefully there might be a newer link. Could I ask , when you fitted it did you have to re code it ?

No coding was needed on my car but yours is a bit younger than mine so you might have to. There was a code for alarm but I cleared that just with a Bluetooth scanner thingy. Have a look on Aliexpress site they'll have what you need I'm sure. The dealers charge well over £100 for those units.

Is your alarm going off?

No Not yet,but over 7 years old, just want to be prepared.I know it could go on for ages , I have had both, on other VAG cars 11 years no issues and 5 years and one had gone. I have found the link on Aliexpress know , my mistake was searching for Skoda , VW brings the right one up. $53 carriage paid.

Glad you found it. That's a massive saving. The life span does seem a bit random. Mine started going off last year as the car came up to 10yo. My son's Octavia is a year older than mine and had no issues. The neighbours Mk6 Golf is only 7 yo and he's had to replace his.

I bought an original from TPS at around £100 ish but had no choice as I told my mechanic to just get the part and fit it as they had the car in that day anyway.

Mine didn't keep going off, just didn't make any noise at all. It lasted 8 years to be fair.
