1.5L manual SEL petrol blue with family pack and heated windscreen.

Dealer matched the best carwow offer I got so happy enough.

One thing I wanted to ask...  he said that if I pay the finance off within 6 months I'd lose the £600 contribution, would that be the case? Was thinking of paying it off a day or two after picking up the car.

Hi Tom

Yes pay it off straight away, you will retain the £600 and the 2 free services. I was told (and it may be true!) that the dealer loses some money on the deal if cancelled within a certain time frame. Skoda do hope to gain from interest payments after all. In the end I got the same deal just by paying up straight away, rather than taking finance then cancelling.

Much has been written on this subject, in another thread.

BTW the SE L is great, but with DSG is even better...

PS I added the heated steering wheel also. If you have had one before they are difficult to give up.

Thanks that's great, I will do!

As for DSG I went out in one today, no problems with it, thought it was very nice. I just don't do that many miles, it's all short local journeys so I'm content with a manual (for now!) :)

I picked my car up on Friday and phoned up the following Tuesday to cancel the finance, cost me £20 in interest.

They dont even question it, just give you the figure to settle then you transfer the balance over to them.

Same colour and similar spec to mine.  Haven’t seen many in Petrol Blue yet.   What lead time were you quoted?

Initially the girl we saw said 9 months! When the guy doing the finance took over he said around Christmas. On the order form it says 30th Nov, so Christmas is probably about right.

^^^

Do you have firm price on the car you are going to receive and the spec all confirmed as being available for delivery late 2018 or early 2019?

Price has been agreed yes. Can only go by what the dealer said at this point, I guess I'll hear from them if spec is causing a delay.

Jeez, dealers really boil my p**s sometimes!

Tell him to put that in writing. Get your settlement figure from Skoda finance immediately after collecting the car and at the same time ask them to calculate the interest you'd pay if you paid the finance off in 6 months instead of now.

Then, go back to the dealer and ask the deceiving salesman for that amount off the price you've just paid.

He is telling you absolute rubbish and potentially costing you hundreds of pounds. This unscrupulous tact that some dishonest dealers dish out needs to be stopped.

Complain, its the only way it'll stop.

Yeah I feel for those who just take what they say at face value without looking into things, such as on forums like this.

Unlikely he'll give me anything off as he said it was was the lowest he'd sold one for (though that's probably just sales talk), but I'll try.

I was quick, no interest to pay...
