MK2 Octavia 2.0TDI Airbox Issue

Featured Replies

I've just bought an Octavia 2.0 TDI on a 55 plate and have noticed that on the last service, the garage couldn't replace the air filter because of the corroded screws. Having had a look, there are two that are really bad, and I could probably drill them out but that'd goose the box. I have placed a wanted post for a whole airbox but it'd be better to sort this if I can.

I've looked around but the screws seem to be a nightmare to get hold of. Any clues?

Cheers

Myles

Can you get them out with screw extractors or pliers? They are only in to plastic so if you can get a decent grip on them they will hopefully come out.

I managed to drill a decent hole in the most stubborn one, then used a small bit to turn it out. I have the filter out now - not as filthy as I expected - and I'll fit a new one tomorrow.

Cheers for the reply.
