The unit should restart where it left off as far as I know, but I've never used the Aux connection.

 

Start up is what it is I'm afraid, and no way to speed it up. How long does it take?

Time it next time i only normally use radio but doesn't start up again on that

It does this when it connects your phone via media. There's an option to uncheck something like resume media from phone when connected, worked for me. Give that a go and it should default where you left it as said above.

You're booting up a computer every time it starts up from 'cold' so it can take a little time. It will usually make the last function you used available immediately while the rest of it boots up. Nav and maps take the longest to start up since they have to read a lot of data from the hard drive.
