Engine change

Featured Replies

Hi all, here's a poser, my Octavia 2006 1.9TDi 4x4 estate (BKC engine with 6 speed and 134K miles) snapped the cambelt and damaged the head. My mechanic suggested that the bottom end may also be damaged due to force traveling through the con rods to the crank shells and thought that we should change the whole engine to be safe. The engine I have is from a SEAT LEON STYLANCE 1.9 2006 TDI, BKC engine 5 speed 89K miles.  My question is 1) will the engine from the Seat fit the Octavia engine mounts 2) As the original car had a 6 speed box, am I able to fit this 6 speed box to the 5 speed engine without mods to the clutch or mating surfaces. Thanks

Engine is engine. You can pm me both vehicles reg or VIN numbers and I will check it for you to be 100% sure

Without knowledge of your particular engine, is it not worth removing the head to investigate what the damage is before going to the effort of swapping engines? You may just need to "only" fix some bent valves. The bottom end is pretty tough compared to weedy valve stems.
