SIM card for Columbus

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to store contacts on the SIM card for the Columbus. The only number stored on the SIM is the mobile phone providers helpline. So if I want to phone anyone I have to enter their phone number manually. I have an iPhone so don't think I can transfer my contacts to the cars SIM. The only way it will let me do it is if I have my iPhone with me then it temporarily stores the contacts. As soon as I disconnect the phone the contacts disappear. Sometimes I would just like to use the cars SIM instead of carrying my phone with me. Thanks.

Dumb question maybe but would you not just use your iPhone via bluetooth / CarPlay and leave the Columbus sim for connectivity duties for the car?

One thought though is I know USB SIM card readers used to be a thing, so read/write SiM data from a computer.

There are certain times when I don't want my phone with me, when going for a run etc...That's when I could use the cars SIM if needed for calls.

Is the Car SIM mapped to a provider and a number? If its a Data only SIM like most then it won't have a phone number you can use for voice or even VoIP.

The car has a SIM slot so you can put any network SIM into the car. You can use your credit for data or calls. However it will only import your contacts if you have your phone with you. Which defeats the point. And they only populate the car contacts whilst you have your phone connected via Bluetooth or USB. This may be different if you have an Android phone that can actually transfer your contacts permanently onto the car SIM??
