Fabia estate rear seats won't fold (missing part)

Featured Replies

I went to fold my rear seats flat yesterday and realised that the lift mechanism thing to fold the seats is missing so only the single rear seat folds. Anyone know if there's a way around this, or if I could pick up a replacement bit from a scrappers? Thanks

Yes I'm happy with that.

I released mine once with a foot long length of coat hanger wire, the thicker sort. Took a bit of probing till I found the right position to press down on.

I've ordered a part but if that doesn't work I'll try that and hope that having a long bit of wire in the car doesn't make it look like I'm going equipped:biggrin:

This is a proper ball ache of a job

Absolutely cannot get the mechanism to release in order to install the replacement part. I've tried fiddling down the side of the seat to try to release the latch but no joy with that. Also the replacement part shows me why these break so often, it's such flimsy plastic!

If you remove the plastic square bit on top of the seat you  should be able to operate the mechanism with a piece of wire coat hanger or similar. Use a torch to see inside the seat.

Thanks, just asked my sister in law if she can spare me a metal coat hanger (I've not had one for years!) I'll give it a go when it's not blowing a howling gale outside

Indeed. Not the best for clambering around in the boot!

I still have a small bit of plastic I can pull on and slice my fingers apart if I want the seats folded... If you get it done any chance you could give a brief description on how to?

i just couldn't figure out how to do it from looking
