Confused like mad!!

Featured Replies

Good morning! I recently wrote a thead about changing my egr three weeks ago and it has now gone back in to limp mode but with the code p0408 (exhaust gas recirculation sensor B too high). Also he put it in live diagnostics which showed the flaps are not opening or maybe closing) iv covered about 1500 miles since getting it changed.

But this is where it gets interesting, when I start the car after its been off for a while its not in limp mode for about 5 mins then it will go in to limp mode after driving it. Surely it cant get clogged up after 1500 milss of droving.

What could potentially cause this? Faulty egr? Faulty wiring? If it was wiring the code would come up on diagnostics??

mechanic is saying the carbon soot is 16 grams (should be 10 at max) is being pushed back in to egr but if thats the case I dont think it would come and go to allow the flaps to open and close randomly. Also it took my previous egr 188k worth of carbon soot to get blocked no way this one can get blocked after 1500! Lol

could it really be a faulty egr?what is causing for the xar to be fine in morning then limp mode later.

Car is skoda octavia 1.6 diesel tdi 190k on clock full service history
