Niggles - water ingress & courtesy light?

Featured Replies

Now that it is getting lighter at night, I plan to help my son sort out the niggles on his Furby, just out of warranty.

Sometimes get water seeping into the rear footwells. There are tell-tale drops of rain water that indidate that it is getting in through the rear doors. Is this common or does it mean that someone has had the door panels off and not replaced the plastic liner properly?

Also, the interior light does not come on when the drivers door is opened but it does with the passenger door. I assume that this is a micro-switch on the door lock, however this car does not have central locking?

I heard the water thing is common. Im getting a new 06 VRS soon and would love to sort this before water gets in.

How is this resolved?

I have heard new rubber strips on door seals sorts it?

I've just popped in to look for posts about rear-door leaks, because it's been raining all day and I just noticed my rear-carpets are sodden. Couldn't understand why the car was completely steamed up when i got in!

I'm going to book it in asap, I'm assuming it'll be covered by warranty, it'd better be. Mine's a late 04 btw.

had my rear door seals replaced in january.all leaks have vanished.for the record my car is a 2004 march model so will be under warranty.

t replaced the plastic liner properly?

There isnt a plastic liner. The regulator etc is mounted to an aluminium plate, its this that leaks along its bottom edge and runs into the footwell.

Sorry Lummox, don't understand the technical term "regulator" could you explain a bit further and how to fix the problem.

Thanks

Rog

window regulator, the bit that makes the window go up and down. The plate needs to be removed and sealed along its bottom edge s the water doesnt leak into the car.
