Dsg problem

I've not the knowledge to answer your question but it would help when experts read your post if you provided more info such as gears that produce the noise (there are two clutches) , noise coasting in "eco", relationship to noise and road speed - in effect anything that "changes the noise"

There is a well known, 'cattle grid' noise, but that is with the DQ200 DSG / 7 Speed twin dry clutch box, so yours is different.

 

Was your DSG serviced at 40,000 miles and had the oil changed?

 

Best get it in for a check over and see if any issues and a warranty repair if required.

Thanks for replys .gearbox was serviced at 40.000 .noise can be heard in car at different times but makes more noise ticking over got the car march 2016 so out of warranty now boo .

So they won't 600.00 to take box out and 1.400.00 for clutches just wondered if any one else had same

If it is rattling on idle, especially when cold it is quite likely the Dual Mass Flywheel, the springs are weakened, might last anther 66K....might go next week...bit of a lottery!

I have just picked up my 13-year old BMW E46 from having a clutch change and the works yard of this transmission specialist is jammed full with dozens and dozens of VW/AUDI/SEAT cars all with DSG issues (mostly Audi & VW).  A few years back this same place was full of BMWs with broken ZF 6HP series 6-sp automatics - they were issues with the 1st generation of that box.  Today it’s all VAG cars which doesn't exactly say much for the longevity of the VAG Auto & DSG systems generally.  There were a couple of other cars (including mine - a manual) in with auto box problems, but only a couple.  Most cars were also not more than about 6 years old.

 

I am glad in some ways now that I chose not to keep the Superb.  Perhaps it’s worth taking a drive past gearbox and other motor specialists to see what most of their business is before buying a car :blink:

There have been lots of VW / Audi CVT & DSG issues, and with Skoda / SEAT DSG DQ200's.  but then VW Group were the 2nd biggest manufacturer in the world, 

and sell lots of automatics, and Ford have had Automatic Gearbox issues for a long time as well.

Not surprising really that you are seeing VW Group vehicles at an Automatic Gearbox Specialist maybe, but where i live the Automatic Gearbox specialist does not get that many in for repair.

I have had only Autos, Automated Manuals or CVT's for over 40 years and tried about all there are available, biggest expense / crap ones were Ford or Renault that i have bought, 

but then i bought them knowing they were faulty so dead cheap and i have a great Auto Specialist near at hand.

I just made a mistake in how bad the ones i bought were, but lived and learned.

And for some obscure reason Australia gets a 5 year unlimited kilometre Skoda manufacturers warranty which mitigates the risk of DSG issues.  VW drivers get 3 years for the same hardware and higher purchase prices. Skoda are relatively unknown here so warranty is one of the tools they use to entice us, with price being the main incentive.

No wonder really after the world wide recall and the need to extend the warranty on the DQ200 anyway,  and then owners that had been told by Skoda Australia there were no issues got new boxes not just MCU,s.   Apologies from the top man were a bit late.

Had this noise from my 7 speed DSG Octavia. Eventually the flashing spanner appeared in the display. Had to have the mechatronic refurbed and a new clutch. Skoda UK was useless .....No help at all. Wanted £2100 just for the mechatronic - clutch would have been extra.   47,000 miles on the clock and full skoda service history.   It seems the high internal hydraulic pressure cracks the internal housing and it leaks. ( Internal leak - Nothing coming out of the gearbox externally) Skoda apply a service update to reduce the pressure in the hope that this will stop it happening but clearly damage already done. I went to Milta in bristol for the work - £1700 for everything......They have a one month waiting list and it is all VAG work.......They are trying to get a part machined to their own spec so that this does not happen again after repair - Clearly a design fault that VAG are not owning up to. 

 

Why no recall - Why just a service update? Why not admit there is a problem and fix it.....I will not be buying another Skoda which is a shame as up until this I was a huge fan of the brand. Gearboxes failing under 50,000 miles - Just not on. SHAME ON YOU SKODA.
