WLTP

Featured Replies

Does anybody have all the answers to this problem.   Skoda Karoq ordered in March for delivery in September for a 68 plate.   Car has arrived and is Grimsby.  Dealership phones and tells me that due to the build date it will have to registered on an18 plate because there is a block on September registrations.  As far as I can make out it would only be a 68 plater if it had been built in week 31 which is first week in August.  This car and others of the same or near build dates are unsaleable in September and have to be sold before September or pre registered.  Far be it for me to complain but you would have thought that a September or later requirement for delivery would have gelled somewhere and the actual build could have been delayed until it could be a 68 plate under the new WLTP rules.  As far as I know this applies to cars built in June and July.  So, to by it as an 18 plater, or cancel it and reorder, or not by anything until the WLTP and next year the RDE are sorted or go down the pub.

I doubt Skoda UK has the answer to anything and they are the importers, so ask them. Why ask anyone else what and when you can get the products they import.

If you do not want a vehicle without the WLTP figures and the engine that gives the emissions as tested then wait for one first registered from September 2018,

then you will get a 68 plate for certain.

My argument is that if a car is ordered for a September delivery and will not meet the WLTP requirements if it is built before week 31 why has it been built in May and is here in June. Looking for a large discount or ditch it and get the deposit back as it is not the car i ordered.

Who has blocked the 68 registrations ?  Could be a Dealer mistake, if you ordered a 68 plate car the dealer should have waited a bit longer before ordering one for you to get you a build 31 week or later

?

Other than for the Facelift Mk3 Fabia 1.0TSI with the GPF are the order books open on other Skoda Models that will have WLTP type approval?

According to Skoda there are no registrations allowed  from September unless the the car is built after week 31.   Which is why many manufactures are slowing down production.  There is an explaination e.mail coming from Skoda, we wait and see

According to Skoda UK is a bit of a joke.

They should be saying roll up roll up get your Pre WLTP vehicles for much cheapness as we need to punt them and not be left with any un-registered by September.

There are no registrations after September 2018 by Skoda / VW or other volume manufacturers unless the vehicles are WLTP tested / Type Approved.

As to the build week then if Skoda's build week does not have vehicles with the WLTP by August then that will be cars that they will be First Registering pre September.

So the question is, do I accept the one already built and waiting that will be on an 18 plate or re order for a 68 plate.  The tax will go up on the 68 plate due to higher emissions but will the second year currently at £140 remain on the 68 plate and more to the point will it remain at £140 on a new 18 plate.  It is like a mushroom fed S... and kept in the dark.

If you want a 68 plate tell the supplier that is what you want a car first registered in September so with WLTP and nothing else.

If happy with a 18 plate then, 'a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush',

or something you might get, possibly get sometime baby.

Skoda UK have not a scooby, or if they have they are not telling.    Actually they are incompetent.

This from Skoda

Group 1 - These vehicles were built on or before 31 May 2018, but must be sold on or before 31 August 2018.
Group 2 - These vehicles can be sold from 1 September 2018.
Group 3 - These vehicles were built after 31 May 2018, must be sold on or before 31 August 2018.
Group 4 - These vehicles have been tested under WLTP and therefore can be sold at any time.

Simply Clever.

Ask them which Skoda Models / Engines / Spec they have that are in Group 2 or 4 that you can go order today in the UK.

I got caught with an Eu5 rather than 6, so I would say be careful and if not WLTP you should get a big discount.

Skoda have said 'sold before',  they mean First Registered before the 1st September.

They will no doubt own plenty or VW will and they will be First Registering to themselves.
