Dials

Quick question,

What are the parameters for the dials to sweep around when you put the ignition on. Sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. 2018 1.4tsi 150 Se?

Pretty sure mine always do this.

Can't say I've noticed mine not sweeping...Maybe they only do it if the engine has been off for more than 2hrs. IIRC that's the threshold when all the MPG, miles/time travelling etc also reset back to zero (for the current trip).

I have a 2018 1.4tsi sel and confirm in my car it's pretty much random whether it sweeps on start or not. At first I thought it was related to the state of charge of the battery, but I think I've eliminated that. So basically it depends on which way the wind is blowing.....

Mine is a 2018 1.4 se, picked up start of May. Sometimes the dials go around, sometimes they don't. Not sure why this is?

It´s not depending on the way the wind is blowing or anything else.

It happens when car has been locked, then unlocked and ignition applied.

I think it works on first start, then only works again after ignition has been turned off and drivers door opened and closed, don’t think you need to lock/unlock.

This ties to what mine does as far as I can recall. The easy way to test is to do the start in two stages (as I do usually). Ignition on with foot off the brake - needle sweeps. Foot on brake, start - no needle sweep. If you think about it, this is only logical. Otherwise you would get a needle sweep every time start-stop does its thing.
