New Octy owner looking for vcds support in North West / Cheshire

Featured Replies

Hi there. I took delivery this week of MY18 Octy SE Technology. The model was specified by work, but at least I got to play with the options list!

I’ve got the full LED xenon AFS lights, but they seem to lack the cornering / light adjustment (apart from levelling). First question, can the cornering be enabled through VCDS?

I also have the powered tailgate and would like to disable the audible warning, and enable closing by the console button and key fob.

I’d like to enable the cornering fog lights and any other good features that folk have gone for too. It’s just I don’t have a VCDS and I’m not that technologically savvy!!

Any support will be much appreciated!

Cheers Jim

Where exactly are you? Adaptation channel mapping has been altered on the FL but I have a document that will help me on that. I am based in Bangor but I am in Wrexham/Chester quite often if you would like me to plug in my OBDEleven and enable whatever you’d like. I have done this plenty of times on a Pre FL and other cars but I’ve not done an Octy FL yet though. I don’t use apps, only long coding so everything is reversible if I make a mistake :)

Just to add, the corner lights are probably working, it’s just that it’s not that noticeable. The Pre FL is much better in this respect.

Full LED Xenon?

Cornering fog lights or AFL?

AFL may not be evident as there are lots of conditions that need to be present for this to work and it’s varaible in the sweep angles.

Cheers for the replies folks. KevC, the full LED Xenon was the wording taken from the order placed with Skoda, which is odd as it is just LED, as far as I know.

Anyhow, having spent a bit more time with the lights tonight, I can see the cornering light works in respect that there is a small LED and reflector on the side of the unit which works fine. One query I have is I thought the main projector unit rotates with corners, as it does on the Superb?

@SashaGrace thanks for your offer, that would be great thanks. I have been reading you page on your Octavia, you certainly know your stuff!!

My office is in Warrington, so it would be easy enough for me to get over to Chester and meet you when it fits in with you.  How often / when are you over this way?

Thanks again, Jim

The main LED projector doesn’t move side to side like the Pre FL Octy/Superb xenon projectors.

Thanks. I try and I’ve learned a lot about the MQB platform since buying one. As I’m a serial modder despite the fact I say that I’m not going to be I’ve had to learn haha. I’m next around the Wrexham/Chester area on Tuesday 26th if that’s any good to you? Ta :)

Cheers @SashaGrace

The 26th is a bit busy as I have meetings from 11am until 8pm, damn it!

I could get over in the morning beforehand if that works with you, but I’m guessing it might be easier for you later in the day. Let me know if  the morning doesn’t work for you and we’ll go for a different day.

Cheers

No worries, morning isn’t an issue in that I’m free as I’m only starting to get busy at 11 as well, the issue is if the OBDEleven has trouble connecting etc due to poor internet or if I have to do a bit of digging to find the codes, so my worry is that you’ll have to go and it won’t be done. How is your availability July 4th? Thanks :)

Okay, fair point on the worries. Is it worth meeting somewhere we know we can get on WiFi?

Can I help with finding the code info at all? Not sure if I’ll be much use though! I’ve had a look through the VCDS adaptations thread so have an idea of what I’m after, which I can let you know if that helps.

I can get to Chester for 8 on the 26th, if that gives enough time, if not I can get there on the 4th July for about 2:30pm as I’m in Birmingham for the morning. Pesky work getting in the way again

Sorry, I mean looking through the modules to get them, sometimes it takes a while. I’ll tether my Android device to my iPhone so a place with a good 4G signal is fine. The VCDS adaptations thread is of limited use because the adaptation channel mapping is different on the FL but a lot of it is the same. Luckily you should already have the High Beam Assist feature enabled and I can’t do Traffic Sign Recognition unless you’ve specified Lane Assist as an option (its standard on the vRS) as these are the ones I believe are vastly different. The boot closing and beeps as well as lots of other stuff is  more straightforward. 14:30 on the 4th is ideal as that should give me some time to get it all coded and tested. The last car I did for a member took a little longer than expected due to connection issues on my cheap Android phone but I have solved this by using my Dads nice shiny Samsung tablet instead. Works a treat :) If that’s ok, drop me a PM and we can discuss a meet point. Thanks :D
