Humming noise!

Featured Replies

I'll start with what's happening! Depending on my speed depends how loud the humming it's coming from the front end 100% I thought it was dodgy tyres had 2 new one fitted, does seem to quiet down when slightly merging right but louder going left, I thought wheel bearing but it just started all of a sudden and was loud instantly never got louder over time any ideas?

Arch liner rubbing on wheel?

When a front bearing became faulty on my previous VW Passat, it virtually came out of the blue and was quite noisy - if that makes any difference.

Cheers I always thought they come on over time!

@JamesVrsFabia - I'd agree that a front bearing is possible; the other possibility would be saw-toothed tyres but that normally happens to rear tyres.

One thing I've noticed I've put my wheels straight forward and the noise sounds like it's coming from the front left at lower speeds, my right wheel is facing straight but my left wheel is slightly facing left?

This ones easy.........(wait for it..............;))..........Its humming because its forgotten the words.....

Haha love it! But I don't love what the garage said it sounds like! Been in for a check up on it, as it's not developed much(to them) to me it's humming like hitting a rumble strip! Nasty! It could be gearbox issue!! :sadsmile:

My sister in law thought her gearbox on her 1.2 fabia was goosed (humming noise) Turned out it was a wheel bearing. Get them checked out.

There's no play in any of my wheel bearings, all the symptoms to me are a wheel bearing if I'm going straight it hums turning left it hums louder then turning right enough it goes quiet but is still there, I'm just confused got my MOT on the 16th so hoping whatever it is gets picked up on that doubt it but got to be hopeful!
