1.2 tdi greenline EGR delete recommendations/video guides?

Recommended Posts

Hello all. my 2011, 60k miles,  skoda fabia 1.2 tdi greenline estate has now had it's fifth new EGR valve fitted and I want to blank it out. I bought the car a few months ago at 55K miles and it drives beautifully, inspite of the turbo lag, so I was annoyed when the engine light came on. Fortunately the dealership warranty covered it but I don't want any more expensive reoccurances now my warranty is expired. I have found plates/kits online quite cheaply priced.

Has anyone else done this?

I have scoured YouTube for any Does anyone video guides but not found any for Diesel skoda fabia II. Does anyone have any recommendations/video guides please?

Recently I changed up the radio head unit to a RNS 315 nav/bluetooth unit after watching a YouTube video a few times. I happliy take on jobs but I really prefer to know how first.

I just did this to my other halfs Ibiza 1.2tdi, I bought a kit from ebay but the electronics box only lasted 3 months before it went faulty and brought the EGR fault back. I just took it to a tuning place last weekend who removed it from the ECU. Car runs lovely again and fault free!

You only need 2 blanking plates, the ones that remove the egr pipe from the front of the engine near the oil filter. Really easy ti fit

Hope that helps

I was told you couldn't just do the front pipe with blanking plates ?

I contacted several local VAG specialists and they all told me that they won't offer a "ECU EGR delete service" as it places too much strain other engine/exhaust parts.

can anyone recommend a tuner that will please?

"Hi Andy,

Sorry we do not carry out EGR delete / mapping. Other companies may do but it is not a procedure we carry out here.

Kind Regards

Good morning,Sorry we do not do any `Delete` options as we find it can upset other parts of the emissions system, there are several companies on-line that could help you.

By that they mean the DPF, most won't touch the EGR unless you gut or get rid of the DPF

A friend hooked me up with an EGR blanking/restricting plate and I installed it. Mine has a 5mm hole in the center rather than the 20mm+ open system which means that there's still some flow so the sensor won't trip out constantly. He also told me to turn around the EGR outlet by 180 degrees so it doesn't blow out into the throttle body.

So far it does seem to have helped. The Fabia is running smooth and responsive, plus the MPG is up.

Is it really worth getting it tuned at a garage too?

Interesting to see there's a delete option cancelling the EGR Valve, I have just had mine replaced by the local garage using a genuine Skoda EGR Valve ,£737 , thank you very much.

All seems ok at the moment and I have the intention to keep the car for a fair time yet but if it goes wrong again I may consider a blanking kit and EGR delete in   the future. My car is a 2013 1.2Tdi Greenline, having covered 56,800 miles so can't complain as long as the replacement valve lasts another 56,000 miles .

Definitely not going electric until they sort the systems out properly, and the mileage limitations, I would want a car that did at least 300 miles per charge .

That's pretty crazy mileage, unless you live in a very remote location and commute 200 miles daily there's no way you'll ever use it, if you were to need long range for a touring holiday then you could just rent a luxury diesel car.

Practical considerations are one thing but psychological problems are another issue entirely.

Just had mine replaced at 124,500miles (also 2013 1.2Tdi Greenline II but Estate) also replaced #3 Glow-Plug as that failed too! with a few other parts that had also worn (rear bump stops, some pipes and bolts) at 125kmiles, and Labour, stung me for £1400

Happy to say the mpg, that was bimbling about 64-66mpg has now gone back to about 70-72mpg (30 mile commute, each way, 5 days a week)

Hopefully the 2 year warranty before it pops again!! :notme:

Hi folks, my car (2013 fabia greenline 2) is currently in the garage as the EGR valve had a fault and put it into limp mode and kept cutting out. They've proposed to me £460 for a new valve and labor. Would I be better off finding somewhere or myself, doing an EGR and DPF delete and mapped. Would this be more cost effective and would it be as reliable? Cheers
