AirMeter

Featured Replies

Took car into Skoda dealer for emissions upgrade. Almost 1 hour & three quarters later I was told that it couldn't be done because there was a warning light on dashboard. Strange as I had photographed dashboard when I pulled up at the showroom. There was no light on then, nor had there been before, & no light on when I picked it up. I asked why it had taken so long to tell me couldn't be done when that was the only reason for bringing it in. Said they did a courtesy health check, which brought up nearly £4,000 of repairs! Can anyone please explain to me, a mere woman driver with no mechanical knowledge, if the AirMeter a) is a frequent problem on an Octavia under 6 years old,

& B) should have thrown up a warning light please? Thank you.

Yes my experience is a faulty mass air meter would normally show up a fault light. They can go on any car. I have changed several on various cars over the years at less age than this. I suggest you take it to a decent Indy and get a second opinion on the lot.

Thank you, Whizzkid. I certainly would not accept their estimate. They are shysters and I am in the process of sourcing a new vehicle, definitely not from Rainworth Skoda.

OEM air mass meter should only set you back about £70, and add on an hour's labour, so that's about £3930 per hour labour charges! Someone's 'avin a giraffe
