Mpg in sport mode on dsg

Featured Replies

I’ve been getting between 38-42 mpg for every tank of fuel driving in ‘normal’ mode but can anyone tell me if the mpg will go down if I drive in ‘sport’ and what is the difference in the drive?

Also the same Q’s about ‘eco’ mode

I would expect lower mpg in sport, just because it holds it in each gear for longer and therefore revs higher. Eco tends to reduce the throttle response but I always made it feel like I was driving like me Nan !!

Simply clever.   Drive in the different modes but at the same speed on regular trips you do and see what the difference is with your style of driving because everyone drives differently.  In a few days you will know and be able to tell others.

My Yeti doesn’t go into sixth(top) when sport is selected (except if cruise is set).

I would therefore check check if the Karoq is similar

and if so worse mpg

Yes I could do it this was but wanted peoples info, don’t really want to try it if a it’s giving me only 3/4 of what normal is giving me,I’m already 15mph down compared to my qashqai

I presume you meant 15 mpg :)

That seems a big drop, what engine was in the Qashqai and what is in your Karoq?

Sorry yes 15mph..... I’m driving 1.5 dsg SEL Karoq and had a 1.5 diesel Qashqai (but I remapped it,so went superb but avg 55mpg and that’s just doing short 10m runs)

Surely everyone knows that the answer lies in Your Right Foot.

No 2 journeys, no 2 drivers are ever the same.

I have found a noticeable improvement in MPG from Winter to Summer.  The cars hit better MPG much quicker in this warm weather.

For me ECO was never going to reach the fictitious MPG figure as it was foot the the floor every time you just wanted to move off, so that’s been ditched.

I’ve never found the difference between Normal and Sport modes w.r.t MPG, because I usually start off in D and flip-flop from D to S to D throughout a journey depending on the road, the traffic, junctions, roundabouts, overtakes, etc.

Oh, it’s known as Driving :)

Just worked out actual fuel consumption for Karoq SEL 1.5Tsi manual over the first 5,000 miles in 5 months and 44mpg average always in ECO. Never tried the other modes because the car is so relaxing and rewards a steady and smooth driving style. Both SWMBO and myself have 26 mile commutes but mine takes around 40 minutes but hers 1 hour. Best journey on trip computer just recently at 62.1MPG.

Update now showing 12,400 miles and changed to SPORT mode as I have found less Kangarooing and average since new actually improved to 45.3mpg, best in the summer of 63.2mpg (posted photo recently sounds impossible I know) and currently averaging 42mpg last 2 tanks in winter for some balance.

But you expected this didn't you? The Karoq being a petrol vs the Diesel

Also the 1.5TSi Karoq has a lot more power than a 1.5DCi Qashqai plus is much quieter as an added bonus. Not really a fair comparison at all.

It was a typo was it not and the op was saying and saying again 15mph and meaning 15 mpg.

Maybe @thekopfc  could update on how the MPG has been driving in different modes.

Easily done I typed 105mpg instead of 105mph talking about Santa Pod the other day but only realised later so couldn't edit my mistake.

I’ve done 10074 miles so far in mine and my avg MPG isn’t good 37-38,the brochure stated 50.4 mpg.

yes there is more BHP in my Karoq but I have my Qashqai remapped so it was so much better on fuel but also. A lot quicker than my Karoq

Just arrived at Manchester Airport after a 70mile run from home on the M62 and my car tells me it has some 42mpg. That was at 70mph most of the way with a few miles of roadwork restrictions. Happy with that as it has only done 550miles since new.

Was a bit scared when we first got our Karoq lots of short journeys, late January last year maxidot showed only 26mpg on first tank but soon improved with more miles, longer trips and in the summer with better weather.

@thekopfc

I doubt you can find a brochure that stated what you would get driving one of the models on the road with people and stuff in it.

Maybe a EU Test for Comparison and now a WLTP / RDE figure, still for a car with a driver in it. Not bits and pieces other than on a test car and no passengers or heavy drivers.
