cant reactivate stop/start using obd11

Featured Replies

I am trying to reactivate the stop/start feature but am having issues. it was originally deactivated using carista but I have since got rid of that and got an obd11. I can access the gateway controller and I can and have reset the stop/start voltage parameters back to factory 7.4 v I think but this did not reactivate the system so I checked the temperature parameters and they are both set to 50c instead of the lower figure being set to -50c as per the factory. this is where I am having the issue it will not let me change this to -50 or any figure to be precise I just get a red banner with 31 function not available I have tried entering the security access code but this makes no difference. any ideas or would I be better off trying the soft reset option?

Any one got any tips?

Can you post the steps done to update your voltage? Also what year is the car?

I have also disabled  the START-STOP system with Carista, and now I have OBDEleven :).

Set voltage to 7.6 from 12.

And  checked  temperatures - having -50 on both min and max, and cannot edit them, giving me your error.

How it should be?  min -50 ... max 50?

I assume that we have the error because we need to enter values between  0-255. Can you set the min to 0? and the max to 50? see if it works?

Later edit:

Found on some forums that min and max temperature have default values  -50 (like I have) - to me this is wired. Anyway default .. then should be fine.

Need to go for a ride to warm up the engine to see if it will top now, as I have the correct voltage. On stand still, it did not stop :).

What options did you use in Carista? There were 2 as far as I remember. I only use the first one with the voltage. DId not know what the others are doing.

Will come with updates later today after a joy ride.

Did a small run in the parking lot, oil temp went to normal operating temperature, AC off, Radio off, Lights off, and the engine did not stop. This is not good.

Must have been something else that Carista updated and what could it be?

Does anyone know what is this adaption for from 19-Gateway? What are the options in your case?

That's the problem with Carista, if you use a pay for app to do something you don't get told what it's done. Is there a Carista app to undo the stop/start removal ? Could be the simplest way outta your predicament

On my way home it worked. Probably needed to meed the requirement for it to enable.

It stopped the engine 5 times over speed bumps and curves until I exit the parking lot and another like 30 times on the road with traffic until I finally pressed the BUTTON. :)  stopping this annoyance.

At home changed the voltage to 12 again.  Glad to see it can be undone though.

As as for you... with OBDEleven see if it works changing them temps to 0. If negative values do not work with this app.

Or try to find someone with a vag com cable and add th correct values.

It should work for you as well afterwards.
