Tow bar electrics

Featured Replies

Hello, I've got a 2014 Fabia 1.2 TSi and I've just fitted a Witter towbar. I made a start on the electrics and I've got a relay kit so the bulb sensors don't complain. The instructions say it needs a 17A mains feed. It looks like I've got to run a 12V power wire from somewhere up front. I've taken some trim off  and reckon I need to connect it to a mains wire in the the fuse box and then run it under the carpet in the front and then along to the back. Looks like I'll need to remove the seats to get under the carpet. It looks like a lot of work. Alternatively I might be able to thread it through the dashboard and then along the left hand side. It did cross my mind that the aux power socket in the boot could be used for this. The wire running to it is slightly thinner than the wire supplied with the electrical kit so I'm not too sure about that. I can't work out what fuse rating is used for the aux socket either.

Is there anyone else who has done this job  who can give me some clues?

The trim has been a right laugh so far.
