2012 Monte Carlo drls to LEDs help

Featured Replies

So I’ve got a 2012 Skoda Fabia Monte Carlo 1.2 tsi (105). I want to change the DRl’s that are integrated into the front fogs. I’ve changed my rear number plate light to LEDs with no problem they all worked with no flicker and no warning lights. So I bought some more for the drls. https://www.halfords.com/motoring/bulbs-blades-batteries/car-bulbs/halfords-382-p21w-led-car-bulbs-x-2

Now when I installed one led band the other was still a normal bulb both lit up and worked, so I changed the other bulb and had to flick the drl switch in the fuse box to turn them on again and they both worked and looked brilliant! However if I turn of the engine and start it up again they never turn on even if I flick the switch a couple of times. I checked the fuse and it wasnt blown so pulled out the LEDs and stuck the standard bulbs back in and they work whenever I turn the car on. I tested the LEDs with a 12v battery and they both light up and if I put them back in the car the same thing happens the work until I turn the engine off then they never turn on when I start the car.

Im currently using the LEDs I purchased in my rear brake lights there working fine no flicker but there is a light warning on my dash but I’m okay with that as long as they don’t flicker. I would just like to ask though is this damaging anything? And please could someone help me work out what I need to do to make my drls work with LEDs.

Many thanks

Joe

The rear brake lights are in a canbus circuit , I've tried a out 4 different canbus LEDs and the dash lights comes on.

I've gone back to standard bulbs, haven't tried fitting a line resister , that adds a load so the canbus does recognised the low rated led as being installed.

I understand that but how come the LEDs I used in the drls won’t turn back on after turning the engine on and off again?

Unlike filament bulbs led are positive/ negative pinned and only work inserted correctly.  So rotate them thru 180 degrees if they don't work

Halfords LED suck balls!! Have a look at autobeam.

most odd

the foglights are not canbus.  Maybe try another brand as @JGrindel says, autobeam work well, I have Twenty20 Cree bulbs in mine and they are staggeringly bright and work no problem, i dont have the switch in mine though.
