Best grease/lubricant for squeaky doors

Featured Replies

Another job I need to get around to doing!

rear doors squeak very badly when opening and closing them. Tried wd40 but that doesn’t help.

what do I needf to put on them to get rid of the awful noise!

I had similiar problem on my mom's car, rear doors were squeaking so bad. My advice is, lots of WD40, some rag to catch excess fluid and go to town. Spray lots of it on door hinges and then try to rock doors from one hand to the other, spray some more WD40 and repeat the process. The goal is to knock down that rust and dirt buildup inside those hinges. It took me about 10 minutes of rocking doors from one to another hand, per door. Good luck!

I find a white lithium grease spray is good, and each treatment lasts for months, even here on the West coast.

@KenONeill Mate, do you think graphite grease would work? Since it's meant to be greased on slow moving parts/hinges?

@BlindReaper - No idea, because I've never used graphite grease on hinges.
