EGR valve changed, fault codes 1403 & 1444 adaptation needed ?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I just finished changing EGR valve to a -06 2.0 FSI Octavia, BLR engine. After test drive car gives fault codes 1403 & 1444 for EGR.

Is adaptation needed in general after EGR valve change?

In case it's needed, how it could be performed? I have OBDeleven but I am unaware of the process, channels, values etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, I think its needed. No idea how its done though.

I believe got it fixed:

Ignition ON
Engine OFF
Battery voltage at least 11.5 V

Basic Settings channel 74

Special Notes:
For ECU's using ME 7.5, the coolant temp needs to be between 10 and 50 °C.
In case the adaptation fails switch OFF the Ignition for 30 Seconds, then switch it ON and try again.

Press + hold the green button, adaptation done. So far after test drive no issues.

And problems refuse to go away.. After Adaptation the car now gives P0400 "Exhaust Gas Recirculation Flow Malfunction" along with 1403.

The EGR valve is new (OEM).

Any ideas?

I redid the adaptation, let's see.

Can this adaptation be carried out using most DIY diagnostic handhelds like I have or does it require a "Professional" reader like in a dealers service garage?

I am about to carry out a EGR valve and cooler unit change on my 2012 Octavia Estate 2.0 TDI, and would like to know in advance should I need to know.

Can anyone out there explain how to carry out the adaptation please as mostly I cannot find anywhere that does explain how to actually do it!!
