Hey as it says in the title I need to get tires for my new wheels. They’re 8J on the front 9J on the back 16s? Will be dropping it down 40mm so need fairly low profile has any got any ideas please? Can’t seem to find it anywhere and garages are useless 

I think you're trying to fit wheels that are too wide for the car and you're going to have issues with clearance, standard size is 205/45 for 16" rims which is probably what you want for the front but the back will need something bigger.

@al3xhumphr3ys - I think you'll need to go stretch to get rear tyres to fit even under pulled arches on 9". I am not prepared to make a suggestion for a suitable size, and think that most regular tyre fitters will feel similarly. Is there a VAG modifier near you who has a reputation for stuff like the Hellaflush movement?

Hey just an update. They fit and plenty of room! I had 215/45 on there in the end!

@al3xhumphr3ys - Well, I said you'd have to "go stretch" and you have! Also, I'd expect the local "wooly suits" to pull you over for chats about wheels regularly, and keep a watch on the outside shoulders and arch lips for evidence of contact.
