Turning OFF speed limit chime?

Featured Replies

Hi does anyone know the way to turn off the speed limit chime? On the Middle East spec models, there's a continual :thumbdwn: speed limit chime.

I practise on the track sometimes and it comes on and stays on at 75mph (120km/h). I know it's a safety feature, but on the track it's a "distraction feature". Anyone?

SOLVED!!! I emailed openobd.ord and got this prompt reply:

You have to change the country coding of the instrument cluster.

In principle you have the following choices:

xx?xx: Country

0 - Germany (D)

1 - Rest of World (RdW)

2 - USA (US)

3 - Canada (CDN)

4 - Great Britan (GB)

5 - Japan (JP)

6 - Saudi Arabia (SA)

7 - Australia (AUS)

6 (Saudi Arabia) is the only setting with speed warning (not sure about

Japan). Depending on the country, you will also get their local setting

for clock etc.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Which country did you opt for, just out of interest. It may come in handy for any other members in Saudi who may want to carryout the same mod.

When I got my car I had the horrible chime that sounds like a sinewave gone wrong...had it removed by the dealer.

I opted for Canada (change country code to xx3xx) (I spent six years working there anyway...). Got the necessary metric plus 12-hour clock and will test that the speed chime is OFF when I can do so safely.....

Tested - NO speed chime:thumbup:

SPEED CHIME :RIP:

Ive been looking at the openobd.org site, translated with babel fish and I have had a good look at what is there, it's good!. If I Were to enable the break pad wear function, would my car work with it as it's not standard on the comfort. What Im asking is is it simply disabled in the ECU or does it physically have the sensors and things missing?

hi

and when did it happen ??i was speeding like 230km/h and suddenly my engine stoped and i couldnt go faster than 120km/h.when i switched off my engine and started it right again i could go again fast like i want.?

what do you think is it?

On my car it wasn't a speed limiter - just a really loud horrible sound (exactly like a flat-line on a heart monitor - clever...) when you hit 120km/h. Any car with Saudi spec coding does it from new - VAG'd it .

About enabling the brake pad wear indicator - i don't know, but it stands to reason that if the car doesn't have it enabled, the necessary wiring and sensors would be left out for economy reasons - perhaps asking a tech on briskoda would be a good idea?

Cheers

Hey sebastian can you tell me how to do this myself without going to the dealer ?

When I worked in Saudi we had Toyota Land Cruisers that had a very loud speed warning buzzer, solved that with some bubblegum over the front of the buzzer.

Hey sebastian can you tell me how to do this myself without going to the dealer ?

Plug in VAG COM

Enter address word 17, dash cluster

07 - code control unit

Change the second digit to whet ever country required.
