Are these winter tyres correct?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just bought an 18 plate scout. The 184bhp dsg version. Want to get another set of winter tyres and alloy wheels and MyTyres has quoted me the below which I believe through my own research are a suitable replacement for the stock 17" 225/50 Stock Nivalis wheels. My question is that MyTyres states "Delivery without tyre pressure monitoring system". How does this effect me? Will I lose my TPMS functionality? Do I need to find a different type of alloy or something? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers

You won’t loose the TPMS. It works on the rolling circumference of the wheel, so if you reset the TPMS correctly via the infotainment, with the ignition on, but the engine off, then switching off the ignition once the new data is stored, after fitting the new wheels you should be fine.

As above there is no system on the wheels of the Octavia, all done via the abs sensors measuring rotation. Reset the TPMS each time you swap sets.

Standard wheel for the Scout used to be 7Jx17" ET45 I am sure that is what the Nivalis is.

Just making sure you know you are going wider than standard for a 17" rim and different offset. Don't think it will be a problem fit-wise just many insurers don't even need notifying if the winters are a standard size.

TS860 is certainly the tyre to have though, had them on for 2 seasons now, can't fault them

Thanks guys. In the end I went with 5 spoke Fox1 alloy wheels with Pirelli Winter Contact Sottozero3 xl 98v tyres. They look like the Nivalis wheels but without the tapered chamfer on each spoke. I had to do this as Skoda Nivalis wheels to expensive and unavailable generally. There is a UK shortage of Continental TS860's to.

total price inc Vat for the 4 alloys and Pirellis was £960

thanks for your advice
