Engines needs to run message after DPF regen finished

Featured Replies

Hi there,

few times I've done 300km in one run, feel that regen starts, then going to see when it finishes and select Start/stop info display.

..which stays till the end of the run "engine needs to run", no matter that all consumers are off and regen is finished long ago (later checked with VAG DPF).

Once I enter the city start/stop shuts the engine beside the message.

Anyone experienced it?

I have also seen this. Sometimes the engine needs to be running will remain on the display until the next time the start / stop is requested by the car. Then it resets to engine start stop available. I’ve no idea why.

Software "feature"

Have you discovered a secret message which tells driver when the regen is on?

@toni8b, nope... just by experience sometimes I'm catching regens, even on long runs, and start to monitor start/stop status.

Probably not exclusively related to DPF, I've seen this message on my TSI.

From memory this is a SW bug & the correct message "StartStop System Available" is not displayed until the stopstart system has auto-stopped & restarted once.

After this the correct message is displayed.

"Engine must be running" is also displayed when the car is being driven/moving & it will only update again once you are stationary.
