Lead time on new Octavias - 4-5 months

Featured Replies

Hi,

Seems the lead time on new Octavias is about 4-5 months at the moment.  As an 'incoming' Octavia owner (still debating new v used), is this about standard?  What other options could I be considering?

The standard lead time is about three months., but that seems to have gone out the window in the last year or so for some variants

My order was accepted for my 1.5 tsi DSG SEL estate on the 4th June and I have a build date of 6th Aug (week 32) and then delivery should be 4 - 6 weeks after that depending on how quick it gets shipped and then on a transporter to the dealer. Total wait of about 3.5 months

Because pre-reg Karoqs are overpriced and lead times are 21+ weeks I have turned my eyes toward the Octavia. I was told by a dealer today that lead times are 5 months, so I will likely aim to score a top deal on an 18 plate model.

VW Group have just announced that due to WLTP testing taking so long due to limited facilities available for all European manufacturers that some 200,000 to 250,000 vehicles they were hoping to deliver in the 1st and 2nd Quarters of this year will now be delivered in the 3rd and 4th Quarter.:notme:

^^^ So ones they 'Hoped' to deliver January to June 2018 will be delivered in July to December 2018.   If they can be First Registered in September or later, if not then tough.

So back to the cars with WLTP that are not yet built or even showing the WLTP figures, what are they saying about their Production & Delivery?

Does this mean any discount schemes dependent on registration by a certain date would go kaput?

Completely off topic but thought you might br interested in oil temps on the VRS245. Ambient temp was 23 degrees on the commute home and after 6 miles was showing 79 degrees C then by 9 miles had reached the maximum of 97 degrees C.

There you go, long life oil, ambient temp, remap, and you get the engine oil up.

Important issue is how good is the Oil / Coolant and systems cooling the oil / engine when it gets up in the high 90's and 100's.

Better Oil than VW Group recommend is sometimes 'Simply Clever'.

?

Has you car got VW508 00 in from the factory?

There is a post in the Kodiaq section on 1.4 TSI with an Audi Dealer with VW508 00 delivered for £7 a litre.  'Much Cheapness'.

Not sure what Long Life oil factory put in but it's needed about half a litre of Castrol Edge 5W/30 long life oil supplied bt the Skoda dealer suitable for VW504/507 according to the label at a cost of £12.Currently at 10,941 miles.

?

What does the Owners Manual show, and does it say VW 508  so 0w 20 FS LL ? (typo sorry)   Long Life Oil / Service Intervals, WLTP figures that VW needed, quick up to efficient operating temp, quickly goes higher, energy needed to cool oils.... *Not a worry under the new testing, that is too short, too slow.*

maybe short life TSI's for those with keepers...It has been the case in the past.

Page 222 from the owners manual states VW508 00 oil is used at the factory for variable servicing on the 180KW Tsi engine (241.6bhp). However it states that use of VW504 00 instead of VW508 00 can result in a slight deterioration in the emissions values which might affect the M.O.T. result when the car reaches 3 years old.:sleepy:
