Octavia Hatch 1.6 Diesel £8k off

Featured Replies

Is the 1.6 diesel trouble or is this a really good deal? I do 50 mile trips on the motorway twice a week and a few short trips to make up 10k miles per year.

1.6 diesel is the worst of the vw diesels. Your pattern of use (the 50 mile motorway trips) should be OK though

£8,000 off of what price,  how much are you getting the car for?

So a 2018 new car, delivery miles, what spec?

Also interested in that info.

Maybe another offer like this

Skoda dealers desperate to shift non WLTP stock before the deadlines and old build limits kick in.

Sorry. It’s an Octavia 1.6 SEL Manual Hatch. It’s got to be registered before the end of December. It’s only £7500 off list including finance contributions.

Thats a new date,  there are some unsold stock of cars which don’t meet WLTP (the new emissions spec) which need to be registered by 31 August (old emissions spec last day) but the December date appears arbitrary.

Many factory orders are now 6+ month delivery (and some orders are closed) so element of advertising going on to attract customers, who then find choice is limited if they are going to meet 31 Dec delivery restriction.  It’s a selective offer on the unpopular (for a reason) types.

There are genuinely some bargains whilst the last of non WLTP cars are available (but of course, the ones remaining available are the ones no one else wanted)

The 1.6 diesel isn’t the best engine, and needs to regularly run a fair distance to clean its DPF, don’t buy this engine if you only do lots of short journeys.

It’s not built yet but will be a MY2019 spec when they do, in August. Should land at the dealer by the end of September.

Not sure the deal is related at all to the non WLTP stock. It seems to be for cars purchased between now and the end of September to be registered before the end of December.

Yes, this deal appears to be to meet a sales target.   Skoda will have a deal where the dealership gets a volume rebate.  They can use this to incentivise sales.  Clearly the target period ends 31 Dec.    These deals can be massive, think buy 7 cars, get one free.  Perhaps less, but easy to see how they can cover couple of thousand average per car

However because of the long long lead time for certain models and specs, they have clearly concentrating on the less popular engine / specs which they know will be available before Christmas.
