Karoq air con query

Featured Replies

Hi,

Drove a Kodiaq diesel 4x4 today as a courtesy car whilst my Superb II was being serviced. Was quite impressed although I'd forgotten how to drive a diesel . What I loved was the high up driving view and boy do people get out of your way!

One query though - I found the aircon/ climate control was nowhere near as chilled as my Superb II. I mentioned this when I dropped it off and the service manager said you could adjust this in a setting somewhere, anyone heard of this? - Or is this because of the different refrigerant used now?

The Superb felt really low down when I got back in it!

My Kodiaq cools just as strongly as did my previous Superb, so I don’t think there’s a problem with the Kodiaq design.

Settings? Obviously you can set the desired temperature, and set the fan to either a chosen speed or “auto”.  There’s also a strong effect from choosing the air distribution and the direction of airflow at the vents.  Beyond that, though, there are settings via the infotainment screen:  drive mode “Eco” cools less strongly and you can set the “auto” fan speed to any of three settings (called something like high, mid and low).  It will still vary the speed automatically, but the setting tunes it to favour certain speeds.

I’m wondering whether your sample car was set to Eco, or lowspeed fan?

Yes, it is possible to adjust the performance of the Climatronic system.

Chances are the Kodiaq you drove was set to 'medium'...

Great , thanks - that may explain a lot.

Rather took to it. Trouble is ultimately I'm trying to downsize!

Notice you are both running the 1.4tsi - what has your fuel consumption been like in the Kodiaq?

Yeah, I downsized* from an Octavia vRS estate - but the deal I got on my Kodiaq was just too good to pass up on, and it's actually costing me less per month than the Octavia did (and less than a Karoq would have done because that was just launched when I ordered and the deals weren't anywhere near as good).

*In fairness, it is actually shorter than the Octavia estate by a few mm :D.

You seem to be getting confused between Karoq and Kodiaq and various points in this thread (including the topic title). Which did you have on loan?

As for your question, anything from mid-30s on the school run (sometimes low-30s when we're running late!) to mid-high 40s on a steady motorway cruise. My long term average for the first 2000 miles or so was a smidge over 30mpg... for the second 2000 miles it has been near enough bang on 40mpg - really has improved drastically now everything is bedded in.

Oops you are correct - sorry don't think I can change the title! In my slightly dyslexic head those names sort of merge as they both start with K and end with Q.

Yesterday I drove a diesel KODIAQ as a courtesy car whilst  my Superb was being serviced and rather liked it although I'm less keen on buying a diesel these days. Infact I moved back to petrol in 2015 pre dieselgate - was worried in such a big fronted SUV mpg may be poor - my Superb has proved good on average  re MPG but if I add lots of people, luggage and hills MPG drops like a stone (much more so % wise than my previous diesel).

Your figures of mid to high 40s on a motorway run sound OK. Likewise my tsi Superb gets high 40's on the motorway and sometimes early 50's.

To confuse me (er and you!) I drove a 1.5tsi KAROQ a while ago and had been contemplating this car however with a 6ft 5" son those back of seat tables were a pain!

I've only done just over a 1,000 miles so far, filled up three times...

The second fill was after a long motorway run.

39-40 average.

I saw a miracle 52mpg on the dash yesterday on a gentle pootle, but today it reverted to 42.
