Featured Replies

I have a bog standard 2001 fabia classic in which i have just put a sony cdx-2200 cd/mp3 player which Im very pleased with. However I dont have any rear speakers, how difficult are they to fit. I had to put rear speakers on my old nissan pulsar and it was a nightmare. The trim never looked the same:) Anybody here put rear speakers into a fabia?

Hi

No one got a reply to this post?

I'd like to do this too. No speakers fitted as standard but will the wires be there and how can I find them?

Thanks

There is some info in that post I made, but it should be fairly simple. I would dobut that the cable is there and if it is it may be in pretty bad condition if it has been disconnected for years. I'd just run some decent cable there as the speakers will sound better for it anyway.

I have the same Problem I wanted to put rear speakers in my fabia classic, but i did some phoning around

My Skoda Dealer, £50 just for the standard rear speakers and £70 for ladour?!? = £120 :gnasher:

Sextons, £60 for Rear Speakers and fitted, i wounder if they'll keep that price once they relize theres no speaker cables in the back

Installing the Speakers themselfs looks simple enough just pull back the carpet in the back under the speaker holes and bang them in. Running the extra wires though, I can see being a right pain, as the cables I guess will have to run down under plastic bits next to the doors then somehow take the lower half of the dash out/glovebox and then wire them in the HU and it might take a while has you will have to work out which spare plugs are for the rear speakers and which is left + Right (you can set the balance right or left only to work out which is which) then you got to put it all back together again.

P.S, when i spoke to my dealer they said "If any cables are soilded it voids your warranty, you got to use the metal clips or the plastic ones you heat up and melt onto the join"

I think im getting Sextons to do it :em31:

I reckon the cost quoted by the dealer is not too bad considering the labour involved, and they would have to sort out any trim bits falling off/breaking etc.

Considering they probably charge 70 quid/hour it's not far off.

Sextons will definitely have a lower hourly rate, and they may be much faster as they probably do this all the time ;)

Soldering isn't a great plan in cars anyway, tends to break eventually. As for it voiding warranty, I can imagine it if it shorts out something but the main problem is that soldered joints and cars just don't get along too well, too much movement/shrinking/expanding due to temperature variation.

today my little fab's gone in to sextons for rear speakers

only small jvc speakers are being put in the back either side the parcel self, hope it sounds ok :sorry:

yarr! got it back sounds so much better they are only 10cm speakers can't fit ant bigger in unless you want to cut holes in the shelf.

anywhos i got theses in the back http://cgi.ebay.com/JVC-CSV424-4-inch-2-way-Speakers-150W_W0QQitemZ9701710896QQihZ008QQcategoryZ14938QQcmdZViewItem

sounds pretty good considering its a standard cd player with standard front speakers and running these jvc's in the back, can be turned up to very close to full volume before the "farting" starts :)
