Thank you for the advice. I guess my brain goes a bit atrophied at times. I am now an older and wiser person.

My 2018 1.4 SEL is fitted an Exide 59Ah EFB battery.

12V 59Ah 320A DIN 640A EN/SAE/GS

Part no 1S0 915 105A

Skoda superb iii use a Micro Hybrid battery management and charging scheme.

It is very important to replace the battery with the correct type, either EFB or AGM as indicated on the battery. If you install a battery that isnt identical (i.e. exactly - Brand, type, capacity and ratings), then the car has to be coded to the correct battery parameters which can only be done with a diagnostic tool.

Ordinary standard lead acid batteries will fail quickly, if you fit an AGM when originally an EFB, it will be undercharged and have a shorter life. If you fit an EFB when originally an AGM it will be over charged and have a short life with high risk possible dangerous overheating or even explosion.

Not setting the battery coding correctly will lead to similar problems, stop start not working etc. Note that every manufacturer has a different profile and the ecu will only have a limited number of options.

Thank you for your reply. Another member suggested opening the bonnet and reading what was on the battery cover. Now all is revealed. Mine is a 68 Ah, so now I am an older and wiser person.

Thank you for the useful information.

Good that you have found out what you need to know. My 220 has a 360A (69Ah) battery. The codes on the boot floor or stuck on the inside of the handbook will tell you what equipment was originally fitted including the battery. In my case one of the codes was J0T which equates to the 69AH battery. You can then run all those codes through http://igorweb.org/equidec.aspx or http://vag-codes.info/vag-option-codes to find out what you should have.

@TerryMcK

interesting what type they are?

my MY16 220ps has another code

J2D = Battery 380A (68 Ah)

J0T = Battery 360A (69Ah)

and in winter months Start-Stop system works almost never

my 220 MY17 Superb has J0T - Battery 360 A (69 Ah)
