I just wanted to know if the drl lights are surposed to dim when the side lights are switched on or do they stay the same brightness

Welcome.

Supposed to and required to by legislation.

Because they are Day time / Day Light running lights.

They don't dim in sidelight mode, they dim when the headlights are on though. Just been to look, tested Mrs G's 18 plate CitiGo

They should dim prior to the models with the LED strip, if you've recently replaced the bulbs and they no longer dim, check the bulbs are the right way

My Citigo with strip LED DRLs with auto lights doesn’t dim.

Are autolights factory fit? I know the after market auto lights tend to be a bit "glitchy"

Ta, I've had autolights in since 2015  the sidelights don't dim for me since fitting them, never been a problem come MOT time

Depending on model year. Here where I live changes came 2016. Earlier models dim and later doesn't.
