Play in steering rack.

Featured Replies

I've been struggling to track my superb. I've had it done at Kwik fit on their Hunter system which is supposed to be the best. But still steering wheel out to the left and drifting to the right. So took it back and they've tried again. Each time they show me that it's spot on until you take it down the road and no change. So took it furrows Skoda Oswestry and they've put it on their Hunter system and tried on three occasions and still no joy until today when their chief tech looked and found a little play in the rack on passenger side. He said it wasn't enough to fail mot but there is definite play in the rack. So after replacing alloy wheels if I want a new rack it's going to set me back £1700 fitted. Ouch!! The car has done 190,000 miles. Is this a known fault can I get a cheaper rack anywhere that's any good?
