Leon

Featured Replies

Hello chaps, a quik Q. As many of you may remember I had a VRS and I didnt keep it long as the lure of an impreza was still niggling at me. I had my classic nearly 6 months now and to be honest its something I have started to regret, it was my third impreza and I feel I been there and done that.

My point is I am thinking of changing but the VRS was really too small, although I did love , the engine and the looks. My wife fancies a leon 130 TDI and I must admit it look a fine car. Do they have the same tuning capability as the VRS and does any body know much about them. Also where can I go to have a read about people who may own one. Cheers chaps:thumbup:

seat cupra .net may help.

If it is the PD130 then tuning potential should be the same.

Yep , plenty of tuning potential there , and you could also go for the 150 bhp version of the leon instead

Is the Loen about or slightly bigger than the furbie??, You mentioned size......An Octy Mk2 140 bhp might be better??

leon is bigger - based on gold platform

The previous shape Leon is golf based like the octy , only without the stretche rear end that the octy has.

Interior space is nearly identical to an octavia.

aye but rear vis in a leon is a bit cack due to the shape of the hatch!! thats my only gripe with the car!!!

Yeah, and in my experience rear space isn't very good either. It's a nice car to drive, especially in PD150 form. :)

SEAT build quality aint up with Skoda though.

Must be a very heavy car then :D

I had a Leon Cupra a couple of years ago. As said based on the Golf 4 platform (assuming we are talking about the last gen Leon here?).

TDI 130 quite rare, doesn't have the bodykit of the 150 Leon which to me is better value and holds it's price the best.

The non bodykitted versions look good if you put bigger wheels on them though!

Interior wise it's no bigger than a Furby, it has the mk1 Audi A3 dashboard and seats in it, which are very good quality. Has a significantly bigger boot than a Fabia though.

As said rear visibility is bad, just like the mk4 Ibizas, and the tear drop shaped mirrors of the later ones don't help this either.

Suspension wise, the car feels more planted than a vRS but the steering is much less sharp making it a more relaxed drive on the open road but not so snappy round the twisties.

I would happily own another, especially if it was the last of the line FR TDIs with the Cupra R body kit and wheel style which SEAT knocked out for a bargain price over New Year (which I was a bit gutted about as I'd only had the vRS just over a month then and would have bitten their arm off for one), but at the end of the day it's just another typical modern car - nice to live with but a bit soul-less, so you'll probably be bored of that too after a couple of months.

Boot space is the big one VRS was pityfully small for a family , although I wouldnt hesitate to have another. Leon is old shape and looks better than the new and its the FR model is that 150 bhp?? Will see what they offer on impreza first.

Yeah I think the new one is somewhat below par in the styling stakes too (polite version of opinion). The boot in the old one is quite big, obviously not as big as the Octy/Toledo but much bigger than the Furby. Both good cars, only you will know which best suits you....:)

If you want a big boot why not get an Octavia, had one from the dealers while my Fabia VRs was being serviced. The Boot is GINORMOUS, you could probably smuggle loads of fags and booze (or a small family) in from the continent in the boot!
