Fabia vRS boot wont open

Featured Replies

Hi,

Im not very good when it comes to electrics but last night i went out shopping and got home, throughout shopping i opened the boot 2 times and it was fine then all of a sudden when i got home the boot wouldn't open, so i ended up opening the boot manually through pulling the back seats forward and moving the locking mechanism myself, i checked the fuses and FUSE 31 (Central locking for boot lock) had blown so i replaced it and i tried opening the boot again and the fuse had blown again.

i'm just looking for ideas as to why it may be blowing the fuse because it was literally fine and 20 minutes later it had blown, could a dirty mechanism and/or boot button cause it to blow the fuse?

Thanks

Does it open via the keyfob at all? If it does, there maybe a broken wire in the handle mechanism that is shorting out. I just recently repaired mine when the handle didn't work but the key fob did. If neither do, then I'm at a loss. Hopefully someone else may be able to shed some light on it!

Worth checking the wires in the gaitor between main car body and rear boot door. They can strip insulation and break. A short would blow the fuse.

I replaced the fuse again and tried using the fob to open the boot and it opened once and then stopped working again, the fuse did not blow this time. I have used a meter to check if there is a voltage reading coming from the solenoid connector when pressing the button on the fob and the button on the boot and there is a reading, im guessing now that my boot solenoid has broken, does anybody know how much one is from skoda or know a part number for it?

Part number 6Y0 827 511G for all MK1 Fabia central locking models. The solenoid isn't listed separately but comes as a complete catch unit.
