VCDS scan error - 01 Engine--status: malfunction 0010

Recommended Posts

Hi,  had a VCDS scan and come up with 3 errors, , 01-Engine -- Status: Malfunction 0010,09-Cent. Elect. -- Status: Malfunction 0010 and

00924 - Relay for Headlamp Cleaning System (J39) 009 - Open or Short to Ground.

I googled the last error and it was actually fuse 36 for the head light cleaning that was burnt. I'll get the fuse replaced Monday and see how it goes.

I'm hoping some one on here will suggest the reason for errors 1 and 2 and possible fixes. I have attached the scan for the relevant errors.

Thanks due the links, although I cannot be confident I know how the affect the running of the car. So far the car is running ok with no loss of power and the EPC light behaves as expected. I guess it's best to have a specialist have a look.

BTW, I thought the headlamp cleaning system was only fitted to cars with xenon headlights while my car definitely has halogen bulbs.

Some cars got the headlight washer system without xenons, for example the Elegance did too.

Makes it sightly easier if you ever want to retrofit factory xenons ;)

Interesting. If I were to retrofit xenons I suppose I will need the capability coded via VCDS to work properly.

Assuming it's a facelift Scout, you'll need front and rear level sensors, an AFS master control module, both headlights (with bulbs, ballasts and AFS slave control modules) and ideally a new dashboard simmer without the headlight range adjustment dial.

Then it's just wiring, a very small amount of coding and finally basic settings with a headlight adjustment target.

I added a very brief write up when I did it:

I've had a look at the link and well impressed. Admittedly my spanner skills will fail me in such a project but i will be doing the interior LED conversion. Incidentally how can i know if my scout is facelift? Am i able to see the details from a auto scan. It was registered on 01, June 2009.
