clutch slippage

Featured Replies

my 7 spd DSG Superb was parked up against a kerb (contacting front wheels) . i stupidly tried mounting the kerb as a shortcut out of the car park . revved it to approx 3000rpm in drive , car did not budge (kerb was too high) . which specific transmission components could this sort of silliness damage, and how , please ? thanks

Such thing should only get your wheels spinnin and nothing else .....

Afaik the DSG box has temperature sensors that protect the clutches from overheating caused by excessive or prolonged slippage. Don't think you will have caused any significant wear.

Other transmission components are rated for well in excess of full torque in 1st gear. The only thing that might possibly damage transmissions and drive components etc are extreme shock events, ie maybe hitting a kerb at speed, even then its more likely wheel bearings would be the victim.
