Knocking noise when changine gears - MK1 VRS

Hi All,

 

I have purchased a VRS 2005 recently, and although it is a good runner, it seems to make a knocking noise when changing gears, especially between 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Does anyone have an idea as to what it could be? The clutch feels good and only seems to make the clunk when selecting gears rather than when i'm pressing the clutch. - thanks in advance :)
