unable to unlock boot/trunk Octavia Mk2 1.6 tdi Kombi

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I own an Octavia Mk2 1.6 tdi Kombi/Estate 2010. Manual.

Suddenly the boot will not open with the central locking. What can I do ?

Hi Ernest,

Sounds like the release mechanism on the lock.

Check fuses first.

Look for tell rust/ corrosion around number plate lights/ trim.

Do you get condensation build up in the rear compartment?

There may be a broken wire onto the relay on the lock or corrosion build up on terminal, or both.

You need to get into the boot area to remove the rear trim and release it manually to have a better look and check continuity on said items.

Just one of those niggly things that plague hatchbacks.

If all that seems OK it might be a problem in the loom between hatch and body, next to the hinges.

Hope this helps

Also forgot to mention, if you have the comfort pack electrics, that it might be an issue with the module inside the drivers door. Accounts for most faults with VAG cars and others.

My Roomster3 developed a fault with the windows. I had never noticed before that the heated mirrors never worked, yet they adjusted correctly. I tried salvage/ second hand parts to no avail.

Eventually went to my local Skoda dealer who for £80 and my VIN number gave me the exact module, it took me about 30mins to fit and everything now works as it should.

Good luck.

A warm welcome to the Forum!  Looks like you have us on the case.  The only silly thing I can add is to do the double lock and then unlock three times.
