Removing Door Cards

Featured Replies

Ok, I have done a search and can't find anything (probably me), are the door cards easy to remove on the Octy, anything I need to be aware of? Just brought some component speakers and intend to fit them this weekend :D

Hopefully a better sounding stereo after Saturday :mw:

Haven't a clue how to remove the door cards - however, you shouldn't need to remove them to replace the speakers, as it can all be done "through the grille"...

Need to remove door card to fit the crossover

If you have to remove the door cards - buy some plasters!!!

Best guide is on dean's site, let me find it (had to remove mine to do the alientech window controller)

Here we go:

It's a pain in places, some bits difficult to explain - feel free to drop me a PM and I'll give you my phone number to ring and curse at someone whilst doing it, but easier to tell you especially around the window switches etc.

Stick the crossovers under the dash.

It will be *much* easier than releasing the doorcards

Hi All

Just tried to follow the link to the door card removal guide and can't get it to work - anyone know if it's moved or have a copy?

Thanks in advance

Chris

I could do it blind folded at this stage.

There are a couple of tricks.

Drivers door: Remove the inside piece of the grab handle before trying to prise off the window switches and handle.

Passenger door: I couldn't figure out how to remove the grab handle, but after about two hours and a lot of swearing I found that front of the handle could be prised off, exposing two bolts.

Thanks for this!

It actually seems like I might have asked the wrong question though - what I actually want to do is change the speaker and tweeter. ISTR reading elsewhere on here that to do the tweeter you need to remove the door card, although judging by these instructions that is not the case.

So, is it also possible to get the main speaker out without removing the door card? Again I seem to recall reading on here that it is, but if anyone could confirm (and offer any tips on how!) that would be great!

Thanks again

Chris

Speakers should not be a problem, and the tweeter housing clips off. I do recall reading that to get a replacement tweeter into the housing may require modifications to the housing, but you shouldn't need to remove the card (unless you are fitting crossovers).
