Genuine or cheap badges?

Featured Replies

The first thing to do is a cheap one, I'm going to take the 'octavia' badge off as I don't like the font and put some new badges on. Now there are the £7 ones on eBay, but are they noticeably poorer quality than genuine ones? I'll be doing a full set with wheel caps.

I'm seriously needing to do the grill badge on my 07 plate Octavaia as the only thing left to see is the Skoda name and the bits of black on the "Laurel Wreath" at the bottom ... Everything green has disappeared.

The badge on the hatch is ok but starting to look rough and the wheel centre caps are shot to bits ... Most of the listings on eBay and Amazon seem to be for copies, especially the wheels, or for gel badges which I'm extremely dubious of spending my cash on...

I've tried OEM vs cheap/knock off wheel centre caps for the Interlagos alloys I had on my Passat CC.  The OEM were much better quality and the knock off's didn't stay on long enough to judge their longevity as they just looked like I printed the VW logo's myself.   Buy cheap, buy twice I believe is the phrase.

Plenty of dealers offer cheaper parts via eBay.  Also look at Superskoda but they are sometimes more expensive, when you factor in shipping

Surely there are better things to spend money on than new badges for an 11 year old car?

There are MicMac which is why I've never bought them but when they're so tatty as mine they really spoil the look of the car

Just me, I didn't mean to sound negative.

I'm sure there are, but currently the budget doesn't allow for expensive modifications this minute. The body work is surprisingly tidy and the wheels are immaculate too, so scruffy badges let it down. And for the sake of 30 quid to replace a few tatty bits seems ok to me.
