DSG Jerky in low RPM @ Low speed (2,3)

Featured Replies

Hi, So as I said , DSG 6 speed gearbox is jerky in 2,3 gear @ low rpm , I tried with DSG oil replacment, even fuel filter replacment , but problem never stopped. Is it possible that DSG needs to be updated or DSG has bad eletronics ?

My car is Skoda Superb 11/2008 , 2.0 TDI PD 140hp.

But works just fine when put to SPORT mode.

I find the same in motorway traffic so to avoid constant gear changes I use sport mode. I hate the loudness of the engine revs, but you can't have everything.

But, what is the cause of this problem with DSG ? Constant gear changes ?

Have you had the DSG Reset once you changed the oil?

Mines was done at the dealer after oil change and the difference was obvious.

This can be done with vcds info from Ross Tech here

So ... which of the listed procedures is the reset ... not all of them I presume? Btw, I haven't did this after changing the old myself several thousand kms before, didn't run into any issues so far (and to be honest, first time I'm hearing about this, followed several DIY threads on the DSG oil change procedure) ... I believe this is to be done only when you change the mechatronic part of the gearbox, no?

No.

Software updates can be done to the DSG's ECU.

That's correct, but for some reason or the other the dealers are reluctant to do this ... you can't just waltz in and say I want the latest BCM and DSG software put in the car ... unless there was as recall or some service bulletin, they won't touch a working car that way ...

Obviously you can not waltz in they are a business, only Kwik Fit have dancers and prancers.

You can flash the cash to the tune of an hour labour plus VAT in the UK even if it takes 30 minutes or less and a man or woman that can will plug in the Licensed Equipment and upload that software.

It is the business they are in.  Motor Engineering, Main Dealerships or Independent Specialists.

Head for thinking feet for dancing.

This is for mechatronic replacement and Basic Setting

Yip all of them is what I will do next week when I change fluid over to Millers DSg
It resets the clutch biting points for worn clutches and sets it all back to factory fresh for it to learn your driving style again..
The difference in 2nd and 3rd gear was most improved especially on the downshift
I have gave these instructions to my local garage and have transformed a lot of dsg boxes back to the way they should behave...B)
Remember to to it all in order...especially the Defined  test drive after.
Try it you will thank me after:giggle:

Just carry out exactly what is on Ross Tech and it will transform the drivability of the car..

DSG Reset

following the Ross-Tech's procedure ... the first two things on the list made some slight changes in the readings before being completed (OK), everything else seemed normal (no change on the screens , just Next) ... did the defined test drive afterwards ... to be honest, I can't say anything major improved ... maybe, juts maybe, the shifts are slightly more fluid on lower rpm's (lower speeds), but on the aggressive style of driving, you odon't see any difference ... I'll have to test how the downshifts work while going down some hills, but at least, this doesn't seem to hurt the DSG ... as of now ... will check for any oil leaks tomorrow ... :D
