Columbus Sat Nav - Red Globe

Featured Replies

Hi,

On the Columbus system does anyone know what the globe to the left of the time is for on the navigation screen?

Mine was white, now it's red.

I thought it was for the internet connection when my phone was connected but it appears not as a white globe appears next to the signal strength when the system is accessing the internet.

It appears that the globe is for the WLAN connection. I can connect to the internet via WLAN without problem and all online services work.

I therefore don't understand why it still shows as red and not white.

Thanks. I reset the Skoda Connect but it deleted the registered user. There was no option not to delete the user.

I now need to find out how to get a new code so that I can register it again.

Luckily I found the original code I used to register and put that in.

That worked and got me back into Skoda Connect.

Sadly I've still got the red globe.

Mine is also red from time to time. I've not noticed anything becoming unavailable though.

Can only think that it must be an issue at Skoda's end.

As I say I have a data connection and everything seems to be working.

I'll see if it resolves itself over the next few days.

Red Globe has now turned to a Red Globe with a white car next to it.

Think it means that some localisation services have been activated.

Today I lost all access to Skoda Connect, nothing was working.

I factory reset Skoda Connect from the menu (again did not ask me to keep my registration). However when I tried to enter my pin which I previously used successfully when I reset it the last time, it didn't work.

To get a new registration pin I had to login into Skoda Connect via the web, delete my car and then re-register it again. This time I received a different pin which I then entered into the car's infotainment system.

This allowed my access back to the Skoda services.

My good piece of news is that the Red globe has now gone and has been replaced by a White globe with a White car next to it. I think this means a Data Connection with Care Connect localisation.

Before my Red globe saga I only ever had the White globe with no White car. I don't know if the server upgrade has had anything to do with this but everything seems to now be working as it should.

I hope this may be useful to anyone else who has similar problems.

I have the Karoq sel with the Amundsen system. The globe is red when I am not connected to the hotspot on my phone, but turns white when a connection is established.

For the last week mines been a red globe with a white car but I've still had the data connection and access to all of the Skoda services.

It's only today that I lost access to all Skoda services and had to go through the above procedure to get them back.

I can only think it was something to do with the recent server upgrade.

Apologies for resurrecting a zombie thread, but I came across this discussion when I had the same issue of the white globe icon staying red on the Columbus Infotainment system when there was an active data connection and all the Connect services were working fine.

The solution that worked for me was:

Menu, Settings, Skoda Connect (Online Services), Service Mode - I changed the setting to 'Private Mode' (after which I received an email to say my Skoda Connect services had been deactivated).

I then re-ticked 'infotainment online' and 'care connect' and the white globe instantly came back and has been working fine ever since.

I think the solution was to deactivate and then reactivate the Skoda Connect services through the infotainment system.
