intercooler pump problem

Featured Replies

Hello!
On my Octavia 1.6 tdi 77 kw, the "exhaust inspection warning" lamp came on. Diagnostics reports a breakdown with an intercooler pump.

18825 - Coolant Pump for Intercooler
P190E 00 [104] - Supply Voltage.

I suppose a malfunction could be an intercooler pump and that's why the intercooler does not perform its function.
It happens to me that the car after a short rides start up a fan and it remains working on for a few minutes after the engine has been shut down. Does this have anything to do with the intercooler, or with above mentioned 18825 - Coolant Pump for Intercooler fault.

I would replace the intercooler coolant pump first and go from there

I just forgot to add that the exhaust inspection warning lamp is shown before I start the engine. Once the engine is started, the lamp is gone. Is it normal way or "error reporting" in Škoda or it means something different.

Thank you

Why are there 3 threads for this?

The MIL lamp (OBD lamp) is always active until you start the engine.

It is the same for all manufacturers.

It's to test the lamp every time the ignition is turned, as said ALL manufacturers do it (so maybe it's a legal requirement?).

I know that after switching on the ignition, some warning lights light up briefly as a function test. If the tested systems are OK, the corresponding warning lights go out a few seconds after switching on the ignition. But, in my case, only ODB lamp stays ON during the ignition and it goes OFF only when the engine start to work. Do you want to say that this is normal?

Yes, 100% normal - the engine ECU keeps the light on until it is able to check that the engine is running normally.

It is a legal requirement from the european EOBD régulations if I understand correctly.

The MIL light must stay illuminated until the engine is running without any emissions relevant errors.

Not 100% true as emissions control is not active until Engine and Exhaust Temps are high enough. It is legislation in Off Highway (derived from Automotive) that the MIL light comes on at each key cycle until all Diganostic checks are completed and Engine Idle Speed is exceeded.
