Citigo Electric

That (very profitable) option has now sailed so if he does go down the solar panel route he will be officially joining the green brigade.

Well he is fairly canny and was doing the sums so there is a payback period, I forget all the detail but it involved some battery capacity and something with an energy provider (octopus?) to take electric at night into the batteries. I need to investigate further as being paid to store energy at night off line seems like a new way of thinking to smooth out supplies.

The changes we are going to see in the near future will make us all change our approach to life.

I have access to 4 cars!

My wife's Bread Van that she uses and I use for shopping & getting my Compost & Gravel etc for the garden.

Then there's my MX5 for 'Roof Down' trios to the Cotswolds, Stratford on Avon & other sundry warn sunny days out.

Then there's the Mini Coupe Cooper S for a bit of a 'Fast Burn'.

Lastly, the Suzuki Mild Hybrid for lumping suitcases to the airport for trips to South of France.

I lead a pretty boring life really compared to the rest of you I guess!

@Ronn

So no need for an EV then or to bother if other want to drive them!.

All the toys and joys or motoring available to you already.

Well, it isn't the end is it?

Don't forget the Citigo is just a Badge engineered VW Up & Seat Mi.

The public have been conned over the years to believe that VW Up is better screwed together than Skoda Citigo.

In fact they are made on the same production line in 'Skoda-land' 😊

Just s few cosmetic differences identify the cars apart.

They will continue making the badged VW eUp & Electric Seat Mi (I'm led to believe) because VW sell them at an inflated price over the Citigo to get a better financial return for themselves.

So, if you're really keen to buy the Electric version of the 'Bread Van' just dig deeper into your Bank Account and buy the Electric Up or Electric Mi.

That way you keep 'the little woman' happy and you swell VW profits even more.

Happy motoring!

I thought the electric Citigo was made in the VW factory at Bratislava, Slovakia

The problem is they never geared up to make enough, rumour has it that VW had to suspend orders in Germany as waiting list has grown to 16 months.  (There are various electric incentives that make it about €10k)

Quite simply could have sold 10 times the Citigo-Mii-Eup if they had tooled the factory to build enough, but they didn’t so they are losing sales to other manufacturers (and losing second car sales from other VW group models)

@SurreyJohn   You thought right. They never went with all the spin with the Skoda Citigo iV did they expecting to pull them so soon in the EU or the UK?

They were not exactly giving them away as a loss leader.

Who are the VW Group losing sales to with one of the lowest priced EV's where people want a small car?

Smart maybe, but i doubt that.

They produced the low range e-Up! for long enough and it was at a crazy RRP.

Well,

The Citigo EV dream of all dedicated Brit Pensioners out there has gone T*TS UP!

Just 400 been sold in UK and that's it - the dream is over.

Supply has been chopped by VW because they're not making any profit out of it (they tell us).

Personally, if I was in the market for an ultra small EV (which I'm not), I'd go for the Renault Zoe.

It's a lot more stylish than the Citigo and has greater range between charges.

So that's it!

The months of anticipation & joy of strutting down the Skoda Dealership with the contents of your Piggy Bank bulging your pockets, hoping to be driving away in a sparkling new Citigo EV have now gone up in smoke!

Thank VW for destroying your dream.

Note the starting price / RRP.

It was nice and is nice when people have choices.

It really beggars beliefs that Skoda had not done the sums to make a profit, but I guess senior bean counters higher up squashed it to allow other parts of group to make more money for the group.

I will keep eye open for what other choices we have. Thanks Root for posting those 3 choices.

TBH I'm not sure whether I believe VW on this issue.

They have proved themselves to be such double dealing liars in the past (recall the emissions scandal?). - The EU still have not punished VW for that yet! Neither has the UK Government.

Infancy the UK Government have not even lifted a finger to offer help UK citizens to obtain compensation from VW!

A fact I feel extremely angry about!

Anyway, I simple do not trust ANYTHING that comes from VW.

They are a disingenuous, slippery Business to deal with!

Skoda / VW employees will spin a story and journalists will publish some of the car they spout.

What might interest some is what the 'Waiting list' is like to buy / lease a Mii Electric or a e-Up! in the UK.

How long from ordering a factory build until delivery or are any in Stock or in transit and can be purchased?

Where is that screenshot from and when is that dated?

@Luckypants

From here and published in the last couple of weeks since Skoda CZ announced the demise of the Citigo iV in the UK..

I've just received an e-mail out of the blue from Skoda UK, offering me a free 32-amp charging cable and software update. Presumably this is to address the problem of the car's onboard charger limiting a 7kW charge to 3.6kW if received through a single-phase supply. If that's the case, it must be a group-wide rollout to include the e-Up and Mii Electric?

I was a bit annoyed that this wasn't mentioned anywhere when I bought the car but to give them credit, it looks as though they're trying to do the right thing.

Snatch their hand off! 👍🏻

If the Citigo is axed , but the VW e-Up and Seat Mii continue then clearly someone has decided what each brand will have.

Clearly Skoda don't want to sell small cars anymore, does make me wonder if a replacement for current Fabia will actually be sold, or if that will also quietly disappear

The Fabia Mk4 is planned for 2021 release and the 1.5TSi petrol engine will be available like it is in the Scala and Kamiq giving it warm hatchback performance with it's 148bhp and 250nm.:talking:

Skoda has been 'too popular' with the car buying public for the liking of VW.

Skoda has been taking sales off the parent company.

So, as all good parents do, Skoda gets slapped down for being 'too cheeky'.

Skoda do not even reach 100,000 sales or first registrations in a year. Under 76,000 in the UK in 2019.

VW sales or first registrations is rather higher then that....

Like more than 10 times that this year already.  But then the sell commercials as well as passenger cars.

If people want a Fabia there are ones available now.  They are a different size of car in a different class.

If Skoda / VW / SEAT or Audi wanted an EV that size then they could have ones as others have already on sale.

There are 2 pedal Fabia available currently.

If and when the Mk4 Fabia appears it has DSG's in the 1.0 or 1.5 TSI's they will be with Mild Hybrids as that is the only way Skoda / VW can get the WLTP & RDE2 results needed from the emissions for 2021/22 vehicles.

It's 100,000 that VW brand (with their higher profit margins) is missing out on!

Nuff said.

Nuff said right enough.  So much in your head that it blurs your vision.

Skoda take sales from other Manufacturers / Dealerships.

There are people that would not buy or lease a VW or Audi that buy or lease a Skoda or SEAT.

It is the union contingent of the VW board that have admitted they have a problem with Skoda's 'success' since it potentially impacts on their members employment prospects.

VW has the lowest ROFE of the group and the Skoda one of the best so I think your financial premise is wrong.

Yes, just had a call from Skoda UK offering the same, and was told it is to address the onboard charger limits on single phase. Work should be done in the next 2 weeks. I guess they got my details from the Connect app, or dealer sales experience feedback info I filled in.

Incidentally, I think the new mode 3 cable is because the one supplied with the car is not UK spec - as I have noticed today after getting it out for the first time. The accompanying leaflet shows a UK spec cable has slightly different plugs with locking and end caps. The UK spec cable has slightly different specs, mainly for the IP rating.
