Octavia 2008 1.9 TDI Cutting out

Featured Replies

Our 2008 MrkII Octavia 1.9 Tdi has been randomly cutting out for the last few weeks and it has been getting gradually worse. (5 times on last 5 mile journey) sometimes from cold, others from after 100-200 yards of running and occasionally when doing 70mph down the motorway. Then it would be ok for a day or so. We have been to 4 garages none have been able to assist. There's no smoke, flashng lights, leaks or anything obvious. The latest was a main dealer who recommended a new fuel pump at a cost of £1000 (they admitted it might not be that either). we have had the 109 relay replaced and that has not resolved the issue. no errors or warnings have appeared on any of the diagnostics performed so far. Any thoughts, ideas are welcome?

Hi and welcome

not had this issue on my octavia but did have similar on a 1.9tdi Fabia which was cured by replacing the throttle pedal assembly apparently a sticky drive by wire potentiometer was the cause ( common issue allegedly )
