More pics of my car in NZ

Featured Replies

We've just been on a bit of a North Island Road trip. Three of us had digi cameras and the result was over 1800 photos. Obviously some had to be of my car - here's a selection.

I'm still sorting the rest. If you're interested keep an eye on our website - www.clubley.org and I will post some soon.

Here we go:

Kapiti1.JPG

Kapiti Coast just North of Wellington

Kapiti4.JPG

That's Kapiti Island in the background, Tasman Sea

Napier1.jpg

Just outside Napier

Napier2.jpg

Napier again - Pacific Ocean to the left!

Napier4.jpg

And again

A picnic area between Napier and Taupo

Taupo.jpg

Top of the mountains to the South West of Lake Taupo

Can't remember exactly where this was!

Hidden%20Valley.JPG

At the Hidden Valley - the steamy bit over the lake is a thermal area. The lake itself is about as warm as a hot bath.

Desert%20Road1.JPG

On the Desert Road

Desert%20Road2.JPG

The Desert Road again and Mount Ruapehu. This is one of NZ's most active volcanos and it erupts every few years.

Auckland.JPG

One of Auckland's Northern suburbs

Dirty1.JPG

Oh no - dirty wheels!

Dirty2.JPG

Just after a 2500km trip including a 700km Auckland to Wellington drive in a day.

Nice piccys Rob.........You really know how to pi$$ people off... .We've woken up to snow again, Black Ice, and freezing rain:mad: I'll order you some and send it over.........:) ...........Andy

Very nice photos... and the car is looking really hot...

Ok, it had to be asked... Do you ever get snow in New Zealand, Rob?

I like the ethereal quality of the second pic, with Kapiti Island in the background. Strangely captivating is that one ... :rubchin:

Edit: Re your avatar - if you come back to England, will you be the right way up? Or should I proffer an Alka Selter first and ask you tomorrow?

They do get snow on South Island as you can ski there in Winter. Not sure about North Island.

Also great pics, lots of familiar areas from when I was over in April last year.

gr8 pics!.....lovely place to be by the looks of things!

There are five dealer in NZ (last time I checked) but they tend to be VAG dealers rather than Skoda only. They do have a separate Skoda sales office in Wellington though - it's pretty small but they had a couple of Mk2 Octys in, a Fabia RS (not vRS here!) and a superb. They also had three new R32 golfs outside.

I had a chat with the manager the other day - he's very enthusiastic about Skoda, especially the Superb. Apparently they expect a new Mk2 Octy RS next week. Hope it's blue, I want to see one in the flesh!

Off topic: Do new cars arriving have to stay in quarantine also?

I like new blue :) - I've never understood gangster black or the yellow that attracts insects, myself...but that's just me

The car just has to be thoroughly cleaned. It is checked over by MAF, who charge you for the privelege, and if it fails the inspection, MAF take it away and steam clean it, charging you about $600 (250GBP).

It's all for biosecurity because NZ's economy depends on crops, trees, sheep and cows!
