Company car options

Featured Replies

I'm having a dilemma over what to get next! Currently I have a 16 plate VRS  diesel manual in moon white, No extras and 18" wheels.

I fancy a Kodiak sportline but when I looked on comcar the company car tax is a fair bit more.

I then thought superb sportline but I drove one a few weeks ago, it was nice but very similar to the VRS.

I don't know where to turn, I love the VRS but fancy a change. Any recommendations?? Budget to be around the 20k Mark. Obviously a year old motor

You can pickup the 245's for around 20k now!

One vote from me!

not much beats the octavia for quality, performance, space - that's why i'm on my third ..

i'm currently looking for my next car, will be prob civic type r, or megane rs, or cupra st.

the only used 245's i could see around currently all seem to be dsg which i don't want, and you can't order one new so it looks like the current vrs will be the last.

Yeah I'd love a 245 but pretty sure i wont be allowed when doing 50k a year!!!!! The diesel 4x4 would be nice but would cost me about £50 a month more!!

Any views on the focus ST3 diesel??

Make that 2 votes for an early 17 plate VRS245 having owned one privately for almost 1 year it is a very well equipped and fast car (compared to your basic diesel) available now for silly money. Possible to get upto 50mpg on a gentle cruise and my current average is 42.45mpg (last 2,500 miles). For company car users the 150gm/km CO2 is very competitive considering the performance on offer. Insurance only GP29 depending on who's picking up the tab, similarly just taxed mine for year 2 at £140.:D

Aren't plug in hybrids supposed to be a no-brainer tax wise for company car user choosers?

Well there's a few, (Golf GTE, BMW 330e?) which might be a little entertaining I guess, but agreed certainly not my cup of tea. However tax does seem to be a major concern for the OP and he is otherwise almost certainly looking at diesels I think?

Mercedes Benz S450 AMG Line LWB 4dr Auto 19MY

£399 per month on PCH from Contractcars.com that a 9+23 months @ 10k p.a.

Apart from the tax bill WTF is not to like?

I wish!!!!!! 10k p.a wouldn't work though and not sure the fuel bill would either

The gold is a no, the 330e I don't mind but in msport trim with some toys they are very expensive. Not sure I would get the spec I want for my budget either. And wouldn't I need a power point at home and work for it??  Diesel is still my thinking at the minute. I think it will be a couple more years before I can get into a petrol or decent hybrid.

Yes a power point would be great if you were just commuting a few miles to work but if you're a 50k pa road warrior you'll never really use those batteries other than as ballast that will actually worsen mpg and emissions....but that's the madness of the company car tax regime and plug in hybrids. I think you're probably right to think diesel.

I'm in the same position, Company Car Tax is a joke, another way to penalise the working public.

I have a '65 Octavia vRS Estate, Pano, Leather, Black Pack that is due back in November.

I also need to fit 3 kids and a dog in.

I had a Passat  GTE for the weekend which I took to London, which I really liked, can you order one, no!

BMW 330e are a bit pricey, no touring (not much bigger than the saloon tbh)

Some good 530e deals no touring version.

Volvo V60 no hybrid models available yet.

No useful mid range from Audi with low BIK, Mercedes have some low BIK models but the monthly rental is expensive.

I'm even toying with getting a Double Cab Pickup, but I hate them with a passion, that loophole should have been closed years ago.

I like the vRS, just want a change.

I don’t think Company Car Tax is a Joke - far more benefits than the penalties you claim.

I just went through all this, started off looking at BMW 330e and the Kia Sortage Tourer PHEV, but the high list offsets the low emissions. In the end I got so fed up with the whole 'being turned over by HMRC' I went for a Octavia 1.5TSi SE Technology, and added heated front/rear seats, tables, USB in the rear, the additional air bags. The standard spec is good enough too. The 16 inch wheels were a minor negative at first but beyond the visuals the ride will be better. It's quite low BIK too all in all.

Octy VRs diesels are high c02 especially in DSG form

even with a much higher list price, an A4 avant ultra 190 diesel isn't much more bik due to the much lower co2( 106g vs 129 for the VRS)

for next year the BIK for the A4 is about £11,000 vs £10500 for the VRS

as a 40% taxpayer either option will see me paying almost £400 a month in tax for the dubious privilege of driving a company car....

50k miles p.a. with that suspension?

You'd better factor in some money for the chiropractor, they're stiff than a pornstar's tool

Glad I don't have a company car reading this thread. My older brother does and 40% tax bracket too. He must be paying over £400 per month for his much slower (than mine) A6 2.0Tdi saloon (ULTRA 187bhp). Came in at just under £40,000 back in 2015.
