Yeti Recall

Featured Replies

Hi - I took my Yeti Outdoor 2.0 TDi 4x4 into our local (and excellent) Great Yarmouth main dealer for a major service yesterday. They said that there was a recall notice on the vehicle for a software update. I foolishly didn't question this in terms of what the update was for and now assume it may be to do with emissions related to the whole VAG scandal thing. However, after applying the update, then reapplying and then reapplying again several more times, the tech guys found that not only had it not correctly applied, but now the Yeti was rendered immobilised. They were very good - superb customer service - and promptly provided me with another vehicle to use whilst they work on a fix... Has anyone else experienced this recently? Mine is an early 2016 2.0 Tdi  4x4 SE-L.

not the well known fix/fail....? which engine are we talking about here?

What's the fix/fail - is this the emissions thing? It's the 2.0 TDi engine with six speed DSG box.

As it's 2016 I take it your car has Adblue so will not be the emissions fix.
Ask them what the software update is for.

There have been AdBlue issues reported in the Superb section & the Kodiaq in the past 2 years, and Techs that get technical issues with software which results in new hardware being needed.

At least the car is in the right place and they can get someone in has the gear and more than just an idea and fix the Yeti.

Thanks for the responses. Yes mine has the AdBlue tank and I've just spoken with the dealer and it wasn't an emissions update, but a general safety-related software update. They are working through fixes provided by Skoda Technical, including physical wiring checks, etc. So far, no joy, but they are very good at keeping me informed. Worst case will be a replacement ECU...

Since 'Safety Related' please ask exactly what the problem was and what risk it introduces if not carried out, that can not be secret or Data Protected or a Commercial Confidentiality issue.

If Safety Related it will appear here while outstanding.   Or maybe not like other Recall Actions / Service Campaigns.

Then being a 'Recall' & Safety related or Safety Critical it will be here, unless VW Group / Skoda persuaded the DVSA they had this all in hand,

all Registered Keepers informed and all vehicles dealt with.

Should still be here though.

Thanks Offski - I'll need to check the Skoda website with the VIN, which I haven't got access to whilst the car is at the dealership. However, the gov.uk search resulted in the following:

No outstanding safety recalls found

There are no outstanding manufacturer's safety recalls for SKODA YETI P70XYZ

^^^ That is quite usual with the Gov.uk / DVSA.

What is pathetic is the Skoda VIN checker that has many 'Recalls' as Skoda call them that do not come up.

http://master.skoda-auto.com/mini-apps/recall-actions

eg,

The DQ200 DSG Service Campaign '34F7' will show if due / outstanding,

yet the later '34H5' on the DQ200 DSG's does not show.

Neither will show on the Gov.uk / DVSA site as VW persuaded the DQ200 that had a World Wide recall was not Safety Critical in Europe.

I do wonder if Toyota are one of the few vehicle manufacturers who are most honest about recalls..? I'll be interested to see what my VIN pops-up when I finally get the Yeti back. In the meantime, the Fabia Redline courtesy car is quite good fun, albeit when I don't forget that I'm back in a manual!

If you have the V5 the VIN is on that.

Once the Dealership carry out the 'Recall Action' it should no longer show as outstanding on a VIN checker.

Maybe they will put a 'Service Campaign' carried out sticker in the spare tyre well with the campaign code and date carried out,

and also give the Invoice showing the details of the Actions Taken.

'Simply Clever' thing for them to do.

How long did it take them to fix it?

Think I’ve just had the same issue in Exeter.. not such good service re updates or replacement car though. They eventually had to get me a hire car

Surprised he never updated with the outcome.

Would be interested. Mine is with Skoda Exeter. Now at day 3.5.

@TourdeFitness, welcome to the forum.

Could you explain please,

were you all and told there was a Recall or Service Campaign for an update and booked the car in to have this done?

What is the problem that they still have your car?

Not aware prior to visit.

Software update failed.

New ECU required.

ETA for part delivery 23-Apr!

When the ECU packed up on mine it was in the garage for 3 weeks.  1 week to confirm the problem and 2 weeks awaiting a new ECU as it has to come from the factory as it is pre-coded to the car.  The car was a few months out of warranty but it still cost me £400 with the rest (I can't remember how much they said it was) being picked up by Skoda and that was in spite of the fact that the ECU should last the life of the car!

Sounds standard delivery time then :-(

Skoda are paying for this; they destroyed my one with the failed software update.
